OK for those of you interested in purchasing the products I have to date tested...
Here are the items; some info; and pricing (prices include ingredients, containers, labels, and my time) I purchase spray bottles, and gather gallon jugs from local coffee shop. Reusing containers are encouraged, as it cuts down on waste, me going and gathering them etc. (isn't that part of the reason we are doing this?). All products here you can make yourself, if you choose to. I've just done the testing, and made them, so you don't have to go through it all. Each product is 'made' in it's own bucket, pot, etc. Then I don't have to worry if my pasta will taste of laundry soap I melted this morning.
I've done my research as to cost of mine to store items (I used Walmart pricing) so that is included with each as well. Any questions you can email me adengland@roadrunner.com
From my Pantry- Laundry Soap
Can be used in regular and HE machines. I have an HE (friends have top loader). All tests have used Vinegar as a 'fabric' softener. I also use 'extra' vinegar in place of bleach. Not sure if results would be the same without the vinegar (No, your things will not smell of vinegar). (FYI- for those with HE's, my washer no longer has 'that smell') and my 'lint' is now the size of a quarter (how much is that store bought stuff eating at your stuff?)-ingredients are; Fels Naptha, Washing Soda, Borax, Water, and Lavender Essential Oil. *use 1/4 cup for a full load in an HE machine; use 1/3 cup in a regular top loading machine; Extra large machine use 1/2 cup. I make this 2 gallons at a time and almost to order. Prices follow
1 Gallon - $5.00/ supply a jug =$4.00 1gal=32cups=96 loads reg. machine/HE = 128/xlg=64
2 Gallons -$9.00/ supply 2 jugs=$8.00
(32loads of 'Tide' @Walmart is $7.54)
* Here is lint piles(glue bottle only used as a 'size' reference)...the one on the left is with From my Pantry Laundry soap; on the right is with Tide...these were both loads of jeans, towels and fleece jackets...see how much those 'chemicals' eat away your things!
From my Pantry - Miracle Spray
Spray on any laundry stains, been used on: Blood, Grease, Mud, Transmission Fluid, Coffee (not had grass stains to test yet) and mystery black stains on socks. You can 'scrub' or rub if the stain is old, set in, or fresh. Let it sit a few (my mom does not scrub or let things set-just throw it in). *But the cool thing is I use this to get rid of soap scum in the bath, (so, I deep clean all bathroom sinks, tubs & showers to rid of all the scum, etc) Friends used this to get a dried, red fruit punch stain off her kitchen counter, another spilled paint on her carpet, and used this for the clean up. Ingredients are; Dawn Dish Soap, Baking Soda, Ammonia, Water.
Prices= $3.00/supply a 26oz sprayer = $2.00
1 Gallon refill= $11.00/supply the jug $10.00
(22oz of Shout @Walmart= $2.48)
From my Pantry - Dryer Companion
Ask any repair man...Dryer sheets are bad! Static Cling issues? Attach a safety pin to an item (place on the hem of those pants, skirt that are always creeping during the day) Gently squeeze to release the smell and toss in the dryer. Mine are currently 2 months old...just alternate so as to not wear them out. Ingredients; Muslin and Dried Lavender. Price= package with 2 $3.00, refill when they stop 'smelling' $1.50
From my Pantry - Everyday Cleaner
I use this on EVERYTHING, EVERYDAY. Counters, sinks, cleaning refrigerator (inside and out-mine is brushed stainless steel), microwave, glass cook top stove, floors, (hardwood, laminate, tile, laminate, concrete). I use a rag on everything to wipe it up...I use a paper towel or newspaper on the 'glass' surfaces for a streak free clean. Use it on my wooden cutting board too! I spray down the bathroom sinks, toilet seats and bowl, the shower/tub after everyone is done for the day...have not 'deep cleaned' in over a week...no soap build up, (I do wipe out hairs-shaving, etc). I cleaned my cars interior yesterday too...no more coffee stains in cup holder!
Ingredients; Vinegar, Washing Soda, Castile Soap Water, Tea Tree Oil and Rosemary Oil -(Vinegar, tea tree, and rosemary all have disinfecting properties naturally) Prices= $3.00, refill sprayer $2.00
Gallon refill $11.00/supply the jug $10.00
(Most 'General Cleaners run you $3.99 and up)
From my Pantry- Room Spray
Use this as you would any room spray, I use it on my bed, curtains, in the car, where ever you want to 'freshen up' Ingredients; Distilled Water, and Essential Oils (I currently use a mixture of Lavender, Sweet Orange, and Palmarosa) Price=$2.00 / refill =$1.00
(Febreze will run you $3.99 and up-and this is not a Health Hazard)
From my Pantry - Spoon Butter
This is great stuff...you 'oil' your antique tables, use a furniture polish on coffee tables, etc...and your wood cutting boards, wooden spoons are dry and abused...This helps seal and protect from soap (soap is bad for wood because it is pour-is even a hard wood) and everyday use. (Do this in the winter when your hands are always dry!) Ingredients; Mineral Oil and Beeswax
Still in testing-
a dish soap, dishwasher soap, a body wash, a deodorant
Yes I've told you everything I use to make it, I've tested it...Will you research it and make it yourself? You could, or will you grab the chemical full stuff at the store, or will you email/call me for something that you know 'what it is'. Time will tell...
UPDATE; dishwasher is sooo close, need some heavy duty caked on stuff for final test! and dish soap is in it's final stage of testing too! Hopefully ready by week of 3/19/12!
I have been a tester of all the From my Pantry products Amanda has created. I love them all!
ReplyDeleteThe Laundry Soap: I had a one gallon jug that has lasted me over a month. I only use 1/3 of a cup for each load and it works amazing. My kids have even told me they prefer it because of the smell. I also have a daughter that has very sensitive skin. Since I have been using this soap she has not had one break out!
Everyday Cleaner: I use this on everything! It takes just a small amount and I have used it all over my house. I even sprayed it on my grill this evening, let it soak for 20 mins, and only had to do a small wipe down. No scrubbing! It also smells wonderful. I have used it in my bathroom and I like that it doesn't leave a gritty feeling in the bathtub. It is even safe enough to use on my grand-daughters toys.
Miracle Spray: I cannot say enough about this spray! Unknown to me my daughter spilled Hawaiian Punch on our carpet while I was out. All of it came up and I never knew what happened until 2 weeks later when she confessed. I have even used it on a shirt that got wet and forgotten that had mold spots, gone after one spray and wash.
Along with the fact all the products work amazing they also smell amazing. I like the fact my house smells fresh after using them instead of like chemicals.
